queer listening

Through an investigation into what I loosely call ‘queer listening’, I want to tease out and define overlaps and similarities between queer theory, sound and listening. My interest in this follows on from my PhD, and my interest in how sound and listening operates in broader cultural contexts.

I am particularly interested in overlaps and possibilities of queer and sonic worldbuilding; queer listening imagined as something that happens against the dominant heteronormative noise; the possibility of listening for/towards queer pasts/presents/futures.
